Fuel filtration plays a critical role in maintaining the performance, efficiency, and longevity of an engine. Modern engines rely on clean, contaminant-free fuel to operate at optimal levels, and even microscopic particles like dirt, rust, or water can cause significant damage to fuel injectors and other sensitive components. A high-quality fuel filter acts as the first line of defense, trapping impurities before they reach the combustion chamber. So! Here’s a guide to how fuel passes through our SWK range and impurities are removed….

Stage 1

Fuel enters the inlet port and is diverted down and through the aluminium centrifuge. This can be either bottom port A or B (the inlet port not in use is plugged). Water and dirt particles are thrown to the outer walls of the centrifuge.

Stage 2

Water and dirt particles are then directed towards the side of the bowl.

Stage 3

Due to the effects of gravity, water and dirt particles settle at the bottom of the bowl.

Stage 4

Fuel is then drawn through the vanes situated on the outside of the centrifuge. Water and dirt particles cling to the vanes until they coalesce and fall to the bottom of the bowl due to gravity.

Stage 5

This stage comprises of water-resistant paper, which prevents water from passing through the filter element. The filter is available with either a 10, 30 or 60 micron replacement elements. Fuel then leaves the filter through ports C or D. Again, the port not in use is plugged off,
